解密 Decoded Episode Recap - Episode 3

It is now morning, and it is the first day of training for the new recruits.

Rong Jin Zhen wakes up, pats around his head, seems like he is looking for something?

He can't find it, and scampers out of bed, clutching at his underwear, and hides in the bathroom.

An Neng brings him breakfast, but he refuses to come out saying that his bag is missing.

He refuses to come out unless he gets his bag. An Neng says he can get his things later. He still refuses.

Meanwhile the rest of the recruits (minus Zhai Li and Rong Jin Zhen) have already assembled in the classroom. Meng Xiao Yun hears that Zhai Li is coming - and even describes her appearance, and body proportions in great detail to the surprise of the rest of the crew. When asked how he can do that, he responds he saw her running on the track field in the morning. 

An Neng and Lei Ting are talking about the students. An Neng says that Rong Jin Zhen is not suitable for training, and is shocked to find out Zhai Li who has been sending him love letters which he never sends her replies to has been recruited into Unit 701. 

Meanwhile, Meng Xiao Yun is flirting with Zhai Li who responds that she already has a partner. Meng Xiao Yun and Zhao Qi Rong start fighting over Zhai Li. Lei Ting walks in on them fighting, and says 'Oh your first day here, and you're already fighting? Looks like you don't know what place you've come to'.

Back with Rong Jin Zhen, An Neng finally gives Rong Jin Zhen his bag. After getting the bag back, he still hides in the bathroom.

Lei Ting explains Unit 701's structure. North Campus responsible for the high level missions. South Campus is for logistics. Lei Ting explains only those who pass the academy's rigorous training can go on to North Campus.

Rong Jin Zhen finally joins the class. 

Next up, An Neng explains the secret box system, and the will that must be written before each mission. He says that this is not a game. 

Zhai Li brings her will to An Neng. She says she will keep on writing love letters to him even if he doesn't reply. An Neng says she should write her will properly and put it in the box. 

They are interrupted by Rong Jin Zhen who says he doesn't want to write a will as he doesn't want to die, and only wants to go home.

He says he has calculated his chance of getting into North campus is only around 5%. An Neng asks him how he calculated it. Rong Jin Zhen replies he has looked at the curriculum and only knows 5%.

The second lesson, An Neng shows the recruits the overshoulder throw. Then next they are paired off. Rong Jin Zhen is paired off with Zhai Li. He says he doesn't want to hit girls. An Neng tells him it's okay, this is training only. Next minute Zhai Li has thrown him over his shoulder. He lies still. Everyone thinks he has been severely injured. When Zhai Li goes to call a doctor, Rong Jin Zhen suddenly starts crying (Man he is such a crybaby - They should really have a different training program for Rong Jin Zhen, he is not like the other recruits).

Lei Ting chides Zheng Dan and asks him what kind of person he has recruited that cries after falling on the ground. Zheng Dan says he has faith in Rong Jin Zhen improving and says he is very important. 

解密 Decoded Episode Recap - Episode 2

Rong Jin Zhen and the principal discuss about yesterday's events.

Rong Jin Zhen asks the president what he should do about the job offer. 

The principal tells hims to ignore the recruiter, and reflects back on the past saying to his wife that he regrets not letting Rong Jin Zhen go to America to study with his professor.

The director and Chief Lei Ting discuss the new recruits.
Chief Lei Ting has recruited three new members for Unit 701:

• Meng Xiao Yun - quick hands, super good hearing (can hear the wind blowing)
• Yan Shi - Super maths student
• Pan Sen - very good anti-reconnaissance capabilities - previous police officer

The director also makes a recommendation to recruit Zhai Li to unit 701 who has photographic memory.

Meanwhile it seems Chief Zheng Dan has lost interest in Zhao Qi Rong due to the rejection of the job offer. Not long after, Chief Zheng Dan receives a message demanding he return within 24 hours to Unit 701. While he is gone, Zhao Qi Rong searches Zheng Dan's bag and finds a gun and wonders what Zheng Dan's job really is. He is stopped by Zheng Dan, who says he is hired as personal bodyguard to Rong Jin Zhen. Not wanting to miss out on the opportunity for the maths genius, he heads back to persuade the principal to let him go. That night, everyone cannot sleep as they know Rong Jin Zhen will be leaving them. The principal's wife, and daughter stay up all night making dumplings for Rong Jin Zhen.

The next morning, Rong Jin Zhen and his family enjoy their last meal together. The principal's wife hands him a jade bracelet to give to his future wife (saying she may not be able to attend or see his wedding).




While on the road, the trio (Zheng Dan, Zhao Qi Rong and Rong Jin Zhen) stop by the forest, and are ambushed by a nature clad fellow. Zheng Dan asks him (Han Bing) to come to Unit 701 with them. Han Bing refuses to go with them saying his father cowardly let his mom be buried alive.

The trio leaves, and are suddenly ambushed by enemy agents. Luckily Han Bing saves them in time.
Zheng Dan commends Han Bing on his bravery and says he is a true hero. Unfazed, Han Bing leaves again.

Later as they are driving away, Han Bing suddenly appears in front of their vehicle. This time he has decided to join the group.


Upon arriving at the Unit 701 Base, they are greeted by An Neng who chides Zheng Dan for being so late. Zheng Dan explains that they were ambushed by enemy agents.


Zhao Qi Rong, and Han Bing are lead away by Zheng Dan, while still sleeping Rong Jin Zhen is left to An Neng. After several attempts to wake him up without much success An Neng carries Rong Jin Zhen (princess style LOL)

解密 Decoded Episode Recap - Episode 1

'Decoded' is a very interesting drama about mystery, crime, and secret intelligence units within China. 

The drama starts off on a train journey with a top secret mission to protect a wise mathematician who will prove useful to assist the national defense Unit 213. During the train journey, enemies scope out the train. Luckily, the physician remains safe during the train journey.

However, after the train journey there is are gun fights between the defense unit and the enemies. 

Sadly the life of the physician, Deputy Han Zai Xing and few police men are claimed.

The criminals escape off in a car. A intelligence officer in hot pursuit manages to get on top of the car. 

However, when the enemy car reaches a dead end blocked off by police officers, the enemy driver pulls the trigger on the self-detonating bomb. The intelligence officer manages to get off the car just in time before the car explodes.

All of this is able to ensue because the enemy has a secret code called the Purple Code which intelligence officers have not been able to crack. The scene switches to Unit 701 which is the decoding department. Chief Liu Yi Ping is working away at cracking the code.

Director Gao Tie threatens to disband the decoding department as they have not been able to crack the code.

In the next scene, we are introduced to the main character Rong Jin Zhen who holds out an umbrella for a crippled man. A humorous conversation ensues where Rong Jin Zhen correctly deduces that the man is crippled based on one foot being higher than the other. The man also correctly guesses Rong Jin Zhen's name as he has seen a book with his name. The crippled man is looking for the university principal. He wants to recruit people for a job. The only condition to gain an interview is to solve the problem. The crippled man Zheng Dan asks the principal to keep his identity a secret.

Back at the military base, Chief Liu Yi Ping has completely gone crazy after not being able to solve the problem for so long.

The scene reverts back to the university. Zhao Qi Rong (a student) overhears the principal, and other staff talking about the job offered at the disability department as the salary is quite high. The principal shoos him off and says only mathematics students can apply for the job, and as Zhao Qi Rong is a physical education student he is not eligible to apply. 

Many students are interested in applying for the job at the Disability Department advertised by Zheng Dan. Zheng Dan casually looks at the sheets, but not satisfied shoves the papers into the drawers

Meanwhile, Zhao Qi Rong sets off to find Rong Jin Zhen to help him solve the puzzle. Of course, he solves it within an instant. He asks Rong Jin Zhen to explain the problem to him, but Rong Jin Zhen claims it is too hard for him to understand. 

Zhao Qi Rong heads off to submit the papers to Zheng Dan. 

Zheng Dan is very surprised to see a quick efficient method has been used to solve the problem. He offers Zhao Qi Rong a teaching position as a teacher of advanced calculus.
Zhao Qi Rong tries to negotiate to teach elementary calculus instead.
So he is found out not to the be who actually solved the problem. 

Zheng Dan demands to meet the one who solved the problem. 

Zhao Qi Rong says he will only take Zheng Dan to meet him if he agrees to the condition that he can be recruited into the school of physically disabled as well.

Zhao Qi Rong tells Zheng Dan about Rong Zhen Jin's hobbies which are counting ants, Eating dumplings and Solving problems. The pair walk in on Rong Jin Zhen being bullied for not knowing who his mother is. 

In the scuffle between Zhao Qi Rong and the bully, Rong Jin Zhen's dumplings are knocked down onto the ground.

Zheng Dan brings him some new dumplings and speaks to him about the job offer. Zhao Qi Rong replies he better ask the principal - the principal is responsible for big matters and the principal's wife is responsible for trivial small matters.

Zheng Dan sets off to meet with the principal. The principal explains that Rong Jin Zhen was the illegitimate son of his older sister, and is now an orphan looked after by himself and his wife. He explains that Rong Jing Zhen is not suitable for the job as he is quite muddled headed as he is autistic and is only good at maths. Zheng Dan still insists he wants to take Rong Jin Zhen away. The principal says he offered to help Zheng Dan recruit candidates, but that doesn't mean Zheng Dan can forcibly take someone against their will.

An interesting start to this drama~~ I'm already up to episode 26 now. This drama is quite enjoyable so far. Definitely recommend it to you to watch :)
